good hound in the making!!

Postby Redtickwalker » Wed Feb 17, 2010 5:25 pm

Last night i went out coon hunting took the old dogs out for a drive. I got some new property to hunt and i was going to go check it out. well the property looked great but toonnsss of deer and not a coon one! so i came home and decided to go out on the prarie where i could road the dogs give them a chance to run off some energy (i live in the middle of town and i go hunting and the dogs dont get to run they bark all night with excitment) no sooner i load the dogs up and there where tiny little eyes all over the place in this stubble field! So i dumped out my 13 month old walker named Howie and let him have at it!! He was beside him self to figure out what coon to chase! HE opend no sooner he hit the ground and smelled all thoes coons, he scremed all the way to the coon he caught one and straped it out and i was chasing one my self trying to "slow" it down and Howie came out of no where and ended up treeing the one i was chasing in a power pole! he was treeing hard stayed treed and wanted that coon! this was the secound time he has treed a coon buy him self and never hunted with an older coon hound before. beautiful voice too! he drug the coon all the way back to the pick up just as proud as a peacock

I went out with Redtickerwalker and Howie last night. Howie is a nice looking walker unfortunately the coons were hanging out on a cliff and we didn't get a chance to let the dogs loose.
