Post by Hemi01 »

Houndsmen time to step up. Im in Georgia now and i hear that WDF&W is trying to stop coon hunting because of a game cop getting shot to death in Georgia.

So coon hunting is why this officer was shot?, Its coon hunting that did this....not criminals.....If that officer was shot by someone fishing would they ban that activity?

Its sad and funny how some people think.....

yes he was coyote hunting and yes they are trying to ban night hunting or make it very limited for us to coon hunt at night here in washington. Myself and a bunch of my hound hunting friends have been emailing WDFW to try to get them to re-think what they are trying to do to us. And so far we have gotten alot of positive feedback from the state, that it was just an idea, and the state is not going to impose any regulations as of yet. But of course no one believes that and we are still sending emails letting the state know what we think. If any of you want to help our fight please visit the hound council site at houndcouncil.com

It makes no sense to us either, and that is the point that we were trying to make to the state of washington, there hasnt been any hound hunting or night hunting incidents/accidents recorded here in our state that I could find, in years!

You guys use guns to hunt coons????? Why not just coax em out of the tree and let the dogs handle it?

Is this the only game officer to have been shot? Coyotes/coons well, they both begin with C. Georgia/Washington, they are both states. I get it. I think we should ban driving cause an officer was shot. Tardation!

Where we tend to hunt its very brushy and the coons seem to always pick the biggest bushiest cedar or fir tree for miles-i swear! Alot of times you only get a quick glance at an eyeball as it looks at you very briefly, so we use guns, alot of us use small shotguns so the dogs do get to handle it when it falls out of the tree.

I hear ya about the thick bushy tree. I swear you can pick the tree to walk to by just looking for the biggest bushiest one. I tell the old girl she should have put the heat on it better and not let it get to that tree, not lets go get another one.
