Tracking collars for dogs, receiver? which is best?
unsure of what to get??? Am here in Idaho Hills...

I like the Tracker Maxima for size and weight to carry.

A marshall hands down, it has awsome pinpoint tracking.

I also have a tracker, its good, but causes me to walk alot futher because it does not have the pinpoint tracking that the marshall does.

stymie i live here in rigby as well. i have a wildlife materials receiver with marshall collars. i have borrowed quicktrac before and have noticed that marshall hands down has the range but quicktrac has the acuracy. when i borrow my buddies quitrac i like it because i can use the marshall collar to get an idea of where the pack is at and the quicktrac to pin point a more acurate location. marshall comes out of salt lake which is nearby, they have a good warranty and the collar is made for this steep country.

I have had two issues with those collars. One collar would eat up batteries, I was scared to use it with the same battery for more than a weekend, I also had a problem that one colllar would give a very weak signal occasionally, I checked it and it was not terrain related... So I guess I have a trust issue with them, they worked inconsistent for me. I have to admit that while I did use those collars there were times that the furthest and best signal I got was from the Marshall. The Marshall box is outstanding!!!the best... just my opinion which is not worth much...AF

I had one that did the same thing and they said they had a few of them that did that and they didn't know why, said the closest thing they could relate it to was being next to the shock collar, but they fixed the problem and they upgraded mine to the new Power Max.
I really dont think you will find a company with a better product or one with a better guarantee.
Onza you need to send them back to them and let them fix the problem, I promise you will be happy with their service.

Quick Track in my opinion is the best out there, I have tried out the Wildlife Materials trx series- was not very good, something to start hounding with. The tracker is a pain in the butt to run and runs off those darn pricy batteries, same with the WLM. Johnson and Marshall are good trackers, I like them, but the quick track will do you a great job, long range mode, tough, durable collars. I have a Wildlife tracker I will let go for $250 with a collar.

I lso think the good old blue box is the most accurate system that does it all the next best thing for carring and what i have found works best is a quick track qtr box but with a marshell antenna attached. But one thing I will say if there is a canyon anywhere you hunt don't buy a quick track there made for Flat Landers.

If you see a tracking collar around here IT WILL be a johnson .. I have seen a couple of woildlife collars and a couple of quick track but I would say 90% of people use Johnson ... And the blue box 1000 or 2000
