Grawes animal scents

I just recently purchased Grawes bobcat and lion scent to start training my pup. He has been around caged coons and tracks down hotdogs at any distance now haha. So anyways I wanted to start him on the cat scents and had a few questions. How much of the scent should be used just making tracks for him to follow? Also should I spark his interest with something I know he wants or just let him on the scent alone? This is the first hound I will be training, been around them and hunted with dogs before but never trained. Any help will do. Thanks
