heart worm education

well i got a real good education on heart worm this week, i bought a trainer hound 3 weeks ago, good hound, hunts good , brought him in to get his shots and boosters, the vet says lets run a heart worm test, comes back + there is only 2 vacines in the US for heart worm, 2 shots $200 each, no other treatment, so i do some research and google this is the info on heart worm the dog has heart worm for at least 6months, the person i bought the dog from says good luck, i would like him to pay for one shot and i will pay for the other, am i wrong or if you buy a dog from someone is it as is, i learned a leson and i will have a vet look at the dog before money exchanges hands, and pay the $60 dollars before loosing hundreds
