I hunt curs.
Hi. My name's Alex Schubert and I've been in Wyoming with my curs about 8 years now. I came from Missouri and I mostly squirrel and coon hunt, but I buy a lion tag and a bobcat license every year and get out into some lion country every year in case I happen to tree one of those. So far, it's just been lots of squirrels and coons though. Since I shoot squirrels out to my dogs, they are pretty squirrel crazy, they usually just tree them right and left and never get out far enough for bigger game. My dog's are treeing curs with some of the treeing walker Hickory Nut Harry bloodlines, Dohoney's Boone stock, and also some mountain cur bloodlines mixed in from some of the tug-a-jug bloodlines, StreakJRXGeorgetta, Franklin's thunder and Amazing Sage. My dog's also have a little bit of African basenji mixed in them. It gives a Rhodesian Ridgeback-type head. I'm happy with my dog's for the kind of hunting I usually have time for. I grew up hunting Hammer-bred blueticks on coons when I was younger. I enjoy hunting from the back of a good mule or riding through lion country. I also have pups from my curs if anyone is interested, they were born about 4 days ago. I hoping to learn something from some of you outstanding lion hunters out there on this website.
