Ill throw couple pieces of dog food in the grass & see which one finds it easiest or using there nose the best, have em race across the yard see who is fastest and similar test like that if you get one that is showing good qualities in all areas. good luck.

close your eyes and grab one or pick the one easist to catch at least you won't have to chase it to get rid of it.

You are getting some good advice. BUT, dogs mature in varying stages or phases similar to people so what it does as a pup does not necessarily indicate what it will be like when it is a year or two old. You will probably have a "feeling" as to which one you like best. Pick it.

I have absolutely no method of picking out a pup other then I keep the one I like more then the rest.. Why do I like it better? It doesn't do this, or not do that compared to all the rest.. I just like it better.. I've kept the one with the blue eye, the runt, the one with the most white, then one with the least white.. I've kept the super bold pup and the shy pup.. So far I haven't seen much of a difference.. I just tend to grab the one that catches my eye ;) Good luck..

First off you pick the parents and grand parents. Now that you are past that pick the one that was most like the best parent. If you are thinking about bobcat dogs get a easy going not a ADS kid type. One that uses his head and nose up in the air with the nose taking the scent from the air. There are test from training books that tell how to pick the easiest to train pup. The rest is all genetics. Dewey

You pick the parents then the pup. I like to wait asking as possible to pick pups but that's not always possible . So your back to the one that closest matches those traits you picked the parents for .
