New to this site, not new to hound hunting. Been out of the game for quite a long time but back in the game now. Have my lead dog Sam, 7 year old Walker male, we rescued him. All 97lbs. of him, big boy! Two 14 month Walker/bluetick/bloody crosses. Young ones are doing real well on bear, coons and cats, thanks to Sam. Looking for some help on one of my young dogs, Bronco. He has trouble focusing on the trail. Does not have trouble finding,or hitting on any thing just can't stay focused. My other young dog Butch, is coming along great. Rides good, other than he has a hard time on the rigging. Once you get him on the rigging he hits great and has a good nose. The two are brothers and I have had them since they were 10 weeks old. Just looking for some sound advice. How do i get Bronco to focus? Maybe he just needs some more time, work, and... time.
Thanx!

some take a while and others never make it. have you worked them on treeing a good deal? if you have cut way back or stop and just lay tracks that end in a bay cage on the ground where he comes up on it unexpectedly. may work. some hard tree dogs tend to want to look up on the track when starting. maybe they expect it to grow wings.

I agree with some make it and some don't there pegleg..... i like to run some unfocused dogs with real focused dogs, hoping they pick up the good traits. I have one now that was real unfocused last year. This year I noticed him paying more attention and running with my older dogs. He has the lines to become a great hound, i just hope he does!!!
