Best weather to hunt bobcats

Weather is comeing to Northern California. Time is limited to go hunting. When do you go? Before the storm, during the storm or after the storm. I heard good arguments for all. What is your best time?

Any time. I have to travel so far, when I get there the dogs are going up on the box. Sometimes after a bad snow storm it may take them a little while to get moving again, but I hunt when ever I can get in the woods.

In the past I've seen it take two to three days before cats start to move again. I've also hunted between squalls and done well. what clues dose one look for when cats are moveing. I have heard stories that some old timers could tell that cats would be moveing while they were makeing coffee to go hunting. I would love to tap into this knowledge as would most everyone else.

I make a habbit of listening to the guys of yesteryear. One guy told me on a cold crisp morning when the sun is out, the cats will just be laying there in the sun not moving a bit. The very next morning it was one of those mornings and we went out. Couldn't cut a track until the sun came out! Then they were everywhere. Go figure. I've also had them tell me things that work before. I just take the advice with a grain of salt till I can prove it, but I do listen every time I can.

I have seen then travel before during and after a storm. If it isnt sub zero temps out you better hit it when you can. any time out huintin is better than work or stayin at home. One rule of thumb that will never steer you wrong you cant catch if you dont go!

most animal activity speeds up before a major storm then stops right before it. the only issue is that predators don't have to follow these patterns as closely. if on already had a good meal before the weather changes he has no reason to get out and look. if he hasn't eaten and its storming some it means game is huddled up and he maybe able to find something under the closest bush. one thing i did notice growing up was during a bad winter and after a long snow storm they check the east side of the cover for rabbits and birds sunning them selves in the morning. some may have been warming their selves as well. living in AZ doesn't give me enough weather changes to worry about it any more though. I have a fishing fanatic friend who fishes all over the world and every day he can. he carries note books with him and he writes down every little bit of info including fish caught and time etc. it does lead to patterns. I'm not that anal. I enjoy hunting and therefore am able to enjoy a day out with out game as much as one with. good luck though.

What makes a cat walk?

The rut or starving.
Other wise they move only 4 hrs a day
sleep or stay in one place 20 hrs waiting for a mouse, bird or rabbit to
come by.
I have heard several conservation guys, that have studyed cats for years say this.
If cats not walking, they can,t be found. They give off such little scent, dogs can,t smell them unless they move.
