Deer Scraps

Post by Calkins »

Anybody else feed their left over deer scraps to their hounds? I've been giving carcuses and cutt off fat to my hounds and they're getting really fat so I like the idea, but they seem to be getting more agressive. When I go out to feed t hem they seem to jump on me a lot more and when I take out the left over bones and what not they seem to have an attitude towards me. Of course I always put them in their place but don't like the idea. Anybody else ever experiance this? Should I stop giving it to them all together?

I don't notice any aggresiveness towards me when feeding scraps ect. Sometimes one dog will finish before another and might go stare at another dog's bone tho. A Sharp word or the offending dogs name is enough to get him to leave that dog alone. If you have a dog that is not letting you take stuff away from them without them reacting then you need to work abit harder on your dominance as the Pack Leader. You should be able to just walk up and take anything away from any of your dogs. They may want that bone back but all they should do is at the most sit and hope you give it back.
