Re: 35 Rem
I own a few. I carry one pretty often. don't bear hunt too much anymore. at hound ranges they smack hard. they can't out shoot the thirty on long range. much to the relief of several coyotes. trajectory is real similar to a 22. so if you grew up lobbing them accurately you can probably do it in a pinch. the recoil is mild the report is mellow "hound pups don't mind it much or horses" the accuracy is damn good if you adjust for traj. wind drift, doubt you'll ever shoot it far enough to worry. for hound hunting i like it. you can carry it coon hunting and brain em real easy and the same for cats, bears and hogs. Hogs are what i tested it on the most at first and its really nice. bullet selection gets more important on pigs and probably bigger bears. the power is there. hand loads can get mean.

My son has been hauling his Savage Lever action 35 Rem for 35 + years .Won't go bear hunting with-out it. Great short range caliber . Between He and I and our band of Bear hunters has probably killed 50 + bear mostly 1 shot
