Recovery chances?

Post by AZDOGMAN »

Tig has been great in AZ and has already caught bear and lion with ease. But here is the situation. He twisted a gut 2 nights ago. Took him to the vet and they performed emergency surgery right away. The vet said we caught it in time and the back part of stomach had not started to die yet. They sewed his stomach to his ribcage and said he will be good to go. I have my doubts but have any of you guys gone through this before. How long should you wait to run them? Are the chances good it will just happen again? Anything i can do to help him out in any way? Anyways he will be living in the spare bedroom for a bit while recovering. Thanks for any info.

That, was a near miss........

Follow your vets advise! He or she knows the deal. I suggest googling canine torsion, so you can learn as much about it as you can, then, take the necessary steps to lessen the risk of it happening again........in any of your dogs.

Hounds ARE prone to this condition. All hound owners ought to know the facts.
