Re: Bobcat hunting in wisconsin
I do, probably my favorite thing to run. Love taking off with the dogs on the cold track, jumping the thing then circling in a thick little swamp all day. No straight line runs out of the country taking you to a highway/private land/wolf country, just you the dogs and the cat.
Fair amount of them out if you look in the right spots. If you just went a little north of Shawano you would find 'em, heck you probably can find them around Shawano now too.

Yes, there is cats around shawano, probably more then north. I believe the law for harvest is north of 29, I was south of 29 run a few yotes with a friend, cut plenty of cat tracks to. They should open it up down there, take the pressure off in Northern WI, and i feel there is as many cats, for the few times I've been down there, LOL.

You've certainly got cats in your area. Just get out and get good at looking for cat tracks. I have not run them right by Shawano but I run them near there.
10-4 on opening up cat hunting. I thought 64 was the cut-off though. It doesn't matter to me because it will be another five years before I get a kill tag for ONE cat. WI. has no clue of what they are doing when it comes to bobcats. I've talked with several of the furbearer specialists in the last few years and by their own admision, they are a little soft on bobcat knowlege.

yes u are right there are alot of cats around here but i would have to go up north past hwy 64 to moutain lakewood area because i dnt have alot of permission from ppl to run on there land because of coyote hunters so i need to find some one who wouldnt mind letting me come with them and bringing my blue pup
Re: Bobcat hunting in wisconsin
You have to be north of 64 not 29 to run em with hounds....or hunt them period.cat and bear wrote:Yes, there is cats around shawano, probably more then north. Thanks, I didnt know, as I'm far north of both, i know some guys down that way, and may take a day or two a winter, run some yotes, i think more cats then up here, that is why they should open the season south of 64, then.muckdog wrote:You have to be north of 64 not 29 to run em with hounds....or hunt them period.cat and bear wrote:Yes, there is cats around shawano, probably more then north.
