Snow is too deep to hunt!

Post by Daniel Tremblay »

Hey everyone,
in central oregon where i do my hunting, the snow is getting a** deep and we are pretty much unable to hunt. i was just wondering how many other people are having trouble with this same problem?

Never enough with tracks on our quads now. But we could use less here too.

its thundering and lightning and raining like crazy here. i wish the weather guy would be wrong and this turn to snow. he seems to only be wrong when its supossed to snow!
i don't bear ground hunt much but if it ever stops raining i guess i'm gonna have to try. my bitch was coming on strong up until this rain shut things down.

It's been great hunting weather here for a few days now. Warm and snow is melting slowly. A little crunchy in the mornings and hard on feet though.

It's deep enough that you need a snowmobile to hunt down here.. And of course who is Oregon has a snowmobile to hunt off of? We don't get enough snow to need that...

I would much prefer no snow..I can still hunt with no snow.

We don"t get much snow here and like it that way .If it does snow the snow hunters get out and lions die, quota gets filled too quick. We get some good training on the dirt if it stays dry.

Snow is so deep and fluffy here in SE Idaho the dogs can't stay on top. All you see is floppy ears and waggin' tail when they step off the pack trail.
Turned out on a bobcat yesterday, when the dogs finally swam their way over to the track and tried to go up a steep hill they just couldn't! They tried climbing over each other to help each other gain elevation! After watching them struggle making it 10 yards uphill and being absoulutly exhuasted they turn and looked at us sitting on our machines and gave us that look of ,"you can't be seroius!" We had a good laugh at those hounds faces and called them back fully understanding what they were saying.
I have never seen my bitch so willing to climb back on the machine without catching something. We need some warm weather to settle the snow before its even worth it!
