Lion hunters in WY.
Lion hunters in WY.
I am looking at possibly moving to Wyoming for a new job. The job is in Wright, WY. I know this area is pretty desolate but is there any lion hunting even close to this region?

Hey there Wright is kinda a desolate place. There is a pine ridge not to far from Wright that has a few lions on it.There are some other houndsmen that live in Wright and I think that they have alot of that country tied up.That area only has a quota of four lions and those guys that live there closed it already this year. Some years that area doesn't even close. I wouldn't say that there are alot of lions there. Probably better bobcat hunting I know the guys that live there and they catch quite a few bobcats.
Hope that helps.

Probably your best lion hunting close would be the red rock area west of Kay Cee, or the Big Horns above Sheridan but the Sheridan area closes really fast. Good snow this year and they whacked the 18 cat limits at a rate of 3 lions per day! Down in the red rock if you can get on some of the private sheep country you can hunt, but you will have to hunt patch snow, dirt, mud and such. bobcats pretty good out in the Powder River breaks, but they are mud cut bank crawling little weasels and you gotta have some fast, smart dogs.
