Re: need help asap
i dont know if you have a welder or anything handy but i just take a piece of 3/4 inch steel pipe about 2 1/2 feet long get a big washer that will slide over the pipe weld it on about 3 1/2 inches from the end of the pipe then cut a piece of 1 1/4 pipe about 3-3 1/4 inches long and set it on top of the washer that you already welded on then weld another washer on the end of the pipe (make sure you dont smash the 1 1/4 pipe it needs to spin freely) weld the end link of about 9 foot of chain onto the side of the 1 1/4 pipe and put a dog clasp on the other end use a good sledge hammer and pound it in the ground so the bottom washer is flat. this works good for me and is cheap since i usually have all that stuff layin around. if not you can just go buy one something like it but they usually arent as heavy duty

Is it one of them thin tube and chainlink type kennels? If so get you a few hog pannels from the feed store take all the chainlink off and weld the hog pannels to the tubing. They can be cut real easy with some bolt cutters to fit all the sides and the door. After that he will not get out, it will last a life time. I have one I made a few yrs back when I still used them and I have put 800 cows in that thing its rock soild.

You're pretty fortunate it turned out that way. If anyone else's dog was even trying to get into my chickens it would be shot. It doesn't matter what kind of dog it is. Everyone has had dogs get loose but that doesn't make it any less our RESPONSIBILITY to keep them put up. It wouldn't be any different than a neighbors pitbull getting loose and coming to your house and killing your dog. You're lucky you don't have to pay restitution.
Don't buy the hype.

If those where my chickens you wouldn't be keeping anything on my property. "It wasn't a big deal to me, but they lost their asses.lol" I didn't see anything there to lol about.

thunder you are lucky. a lady down the street had to put her dog down after it went in the neighbors front yard and killed 2 chickens. my dogs have killed 3 of my neighbors chickens that have got into my backyard. of course sense they got in my back yard that is not a big deal. i think they should have all their chickens taken away. i dredd the day my dogs figure out how to get over a 7 ft fence to chase the chickens cuz they have had a taste of the ones that came in their yard. rob

I hope you don't own hounds because if you do, that is a ridiculous statement.
EVERYONE'S hounds get loose at one time or another, give em a break.

Yeah I do own hounds. If one gets loose there are ALOT of risks. Like getting hit by a car or getting shot while messing with the neighbors animals. I try to keep my dogs put up like the next guy and have a fully fenced yard, also. It is WELL within someones rights to shoot an animal thats killing or attempting to kill livestock or domestic animals in our county. I know they are just chickens to some people but they are my childrens pets and they'll be protected. My dogs don't mess with them so it's not an issue for me. On the flip side, if my chickens were to theoretically get out of my yard and get eaten, so be it.
Don't buy the hype.

Horse panels simular to hog panels are aviable in 15 and 20 ft lengths. Get the heavy guage they come in height of 5 ft. and you can get four foot ones. You can lay one or two on the ground to prevent digging and use a four foot and five foot to give you 9ft. fence and then top with another one or two panels. It will run into some cash but will be dog proof and you can stand erect when you go in the pen. Horse panel mesh has 2" by 4" openings. You will need some kind of posts also.
