Should you keep the runt?

Post by newby »

CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ON WHY PEOPLE DO OR DO NOT KEEP THE RUNTS OF A LITTER. WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS AS TO WHY OR WHY NOT? I HAVE ONE PUP THAT'S ABOUT A 3RD SMALLER THAN THE REST OF THE PUPS. SHE'S ACTIVE AND SEEMS HEALTHY, JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO NEED AS MUCH FOOD AS THE OTHERS.

They often all grow at different times... I've seen the runts end up being the bigger ones. I have a runt and she's the same as the rest. My old man just picked up a pup who was a runt, for $700 less than the others, now he's the biggest and best looking !
