Looking for stud dog

Post by Melanie Hampton »

I have a friend who is looking for a top notch male in Oregon- Northern Cali to breed his top notch Walker female to.

She's had 2 litters of pups and of those pups, the one's in the right hands (being hunted) are making top notch dogs.. He wants to make one last cross on her.. She is used on everything, but is a cat dog and he is looking to have more cat dogs off of her..

He's looking for something that already has proven that it can reproduce top dogs also.. Preferable a Walker (registered would be even better) but he would look at something that had a little running dog in it.. Something that reproduces dogs tight on the ground and that can locate and tree..

If you have or know of anything please post the info or pm me..

She's due in at anytime.. If he can't find anything then he will breed her back to Brisco, since we have seen that cross does work and works well...

Thanks

Thought I might ad that this is Nick's Mabel dog....

She is out of the line of dogs I run.. A half sister to my Brisco dog..

talk to jeff allen ..... he has an awesome old strain nance walker line ( Jeff's Old Hank, Sam Ray's Tick dog, Mike Leonard's old Big Nosed Kate) anyway Hank produced much like his father and they both lived and hunted and bred till they were very old dogs. Some of the most famous dogs out of Hank also came from a single black female that originally came from Stan Meacham she was rumored to be part bluetick and some bloodhound.

My vote is Topper Again. It'd be a good matchup of cat minded pup reproducers from the sounds of it. I think Andy could ship semen?

Since its open voting I say stick with the proven cross anything putting cat dogs on the ground should be considered a success you can mix the pot if it don't taste right but if everyone likes it leave it be. That's my vote on the breeding of walkers please don't count it in the final tally and if you do I will deny any involvement! Tell him good luck and keep us posted on how they turn out.

LOL.. This is pretty much what I think too.. I told him to take her back to Brisco since I/we know what it produces.. And he plans on having her spayed after this litter..I've got a few people backing me on this ;) But he wants to look at all options since she isn't in heat just yet...

Thanks for all suggestions and pms.. All are appreciated..

I know a guy in Ukiah, Ca. that has the best stud for cat and fox dogs I know of. Hes a seven year old unregistered Walker colored dog that is crossbred with Walker and a mix of running dogs that have been bred in the area for over forty years. I've hunted with him and most of his littermates and they are all dandy dogs. A couple are even good bear dogs by chance but thats not what he is. All of them open on cold tracks, tree good and can regular run. He's had a couple litters of pups and what I've seen they are the same. I just bred my female to him because I like the blood to much to see it get away. I can p.m. you his name and number if your interested.

I've got one here but he's red. Head full of sense and just one of those dogs that makes something happen and he's fast. He's only had a couple litters and I've had nothing but good reports on the pups. I love the pup I kept from the last litter.
