Blind dog
I have an 8 year old dog that's had 3 tumors removed, one of which the vet said was for sure cancerous. She has another lump and yesterday when I was hunting she ran full steam into 3 logs, that I saw. The question is when do I put her down, I guess. I can't hunt a blind dog. Other than that she seems happy and healthy. She just took second in a water race about a month ago and was in the finals at a field trial. The other part of it is she is acting way goofy and the other dogs seem to pick on her. Which never happened before. She grabs my hand with her mouth(like a soft bite) when I go feed her, every day. She started it about 3 or 4 months ago. She never did it before. What do you guys think? She can see up close because she follows my hand with her eyes. Kennel space is precious and dog food is expensive. Maybe she isn't blind but is having a hard time processing information with her brain? I just thought of that. Maybe she has doggy alzhiemers? LOL Not sure what to do. When she went to the vet, she acted a little surprised that she was still alive after the last tumor was removed.
Don't buy the hype.

Re: Blind dog
sounds like she needs to be a house dog or put down.

Re: Blind dog
I know your asking for advise. But its your dog. You know your financial situation best .Your attachment to the dog best. You have to live with what ever decision you make as far as putting her down.If you dont think she is huntable and you cant afford to keep her as a pet only alternative to putting her down might be to try and find somebady that would whant her for a pet.Good luck
