Questions on Rigging bears

Post by Lil Joes BigGame hounds »

With the help of the garmin we can really learn more on the bears we rig. How many of the rigs that you hit are bears paralleling the road or just not crossing it at all? How far out will your dogs cast out before they open on trail? What is the farthest away you have rigged a bear? Let the chest thumping begin!

rigging bears get easier with the more bears you hunt as well as the distance.most of the bears i run now never cross the road .it all depends on the breeze that you get from up or down hill.i rigged one 900 yards according to the gps last year.the dogs struck of the box and ran up hill with out a sound at 900 yards according to gps, they jumped him, fight was on, the bear was sleeping and the dogs treed it 392 of from the jump and even better it was only 500 yards from a skid trail.i was proud as hell that day,i even had a truck load of people with me and they thought that i was the shit.it was neat to see distance the dogs could rig one,i thought that was pretty sweet, gps collars have really made hound hunting so much more enjoyable for me.gps has sure saved my voice and my fuel bill.
