I was in Warburton , Australia, alarm goes off at just before 5.30 am and it was on the news on the radio
I turned on the TV and saw the most confronting sight ,i'm ever likely to see
That plane disappearing into one of the towers and later the collapse of the towers
That day affected so many people and my thoughts go out to anyone who lost someone or who was near there on the day

I was on my way to a drilling rig to work on a list of repairs that had been eating up my time. My wife called me to tell me about a plane flying into the first tower. As we were on the phone, and she was watching the news, all of a sudden she was speachless as she watched the second plane hit, live. When I got to the rig, the Tool Pusher and I just sat in front of the TV for the next hour, trying to make sense of it all.

I was horseback headed out to check the cows. A friend came blowing into the ranch at breakneck speed. Pissed me off at first, then he got put and hollered at me to turn on my TV. I jumped off as he explained what he had heard on the radio (at that time they weren't even sure the size of the plane) and tied my horse to the fence. We jogged into the house and tuned in. It wasn't to much longer and we saw the second plane hit. It was then that I felt we were being invaded. My anger rose and sorrow fell for all who bête being killed. What a horrible day!

I was sitting at home waiting to drive to south Louisiana and get on a chopper to fly out to my rig. Needless to say I got a call that air traffic was suspended and sit tight. Then I kept waiting for WW3 and it never came.

My wife and me was in the hospital, I was sleeping next to her bed on a cot. The day before I became a father and we welcomed our son in to the world. I thought she was trying to play a joke on me, because she couldnt explain what was goin on. It was a very confusing time for our emotions.

Fort huachuca az then later traveling. I was mostly interested and concerned as to the scope of the attack. The specifics seemed pretty important due to the size and planning/success of the attack and the coordination. The gut punch came a bit later watching footage of the jumpers. That was harder for me. Its more acceptable to kill or even murder someone in my mind then force them to commit suicide. Mostly because it means you twisted them beyond their abilities and past what their minds can handle. That is inhumane and what should separates war from terrorism. If anyone misunderstands and takes issue with my opinions that's fine they are what they are.

I drove up into a friends driveway and witnessed him glued to a small tv set in his garage. I approached and not a word was spoken and we witnessed the second plane crash into the towers. After the initial shock was over, my blood began to boil and my mind raced. I spoiled for a fight and didnt even know with whom. I felt like I was sucker punched by the biggest coward in the world. Thoughts of re-enlisting set-in and I realized that eleven years had passed since I served and my age smacked me in the face and their was no chance. However, my son is currently serving in the Marines and has completed three tours in Iraq, Africa and lastly Afgan. By proxy my son and our military folks have provided a good old fashion kick in the nuts to the cowards of 9/11 and for that I'm thankful. My heart aches for all of those who lost there lives, their families and our country.

where were you

Post by Riley Dabling »

I was working in Star Valley Wyoming and the job Foreman just came back from the lumber yard and told us to get off the roof and come back to the hotel. I remember seeing it take place and feeling scarred and angry. My wife called from home and was crying wanting me to come home. We just had had a new baby and she was scared. God bless this nation and may we never forget what makes us great.

I was living on the ranch here east of Kaycee. I was getting ready to send my boys off to school and hubby to work. Just happened to turn the news on and saw what had happened. Needless to say we were all in shock. :(
