Hello guys!
I just found this site and many nice pictures and topics. I am a Swedish hunter that have some questions that I hope someone could help me to answer.
I have a dream to take my dogs and come to USA or Canada to try to hunt some blackbears, fish and enjoy to be in the nature for a month or two. I talked to a friend that lived in California and he told me that I could buy a bear licens per year there and hunt in the national forests alone if I want.
What I wonder now is there is the same opportunity in other states or in Canada so I can try to hunt alone in some national forests or something like that? Which is the best place for black bear hunting if you are new for it?
Is it some place where I can buy two licens per year?
Spring or fall - which is the best season for hunting black bears with dogs? In California it was only fall hunting if I understod things right.
I hope you guys can help me so this dream could be true at one day. And if someone can help me with this I can offer some real good hunting here in Sweden if you are interested, new hunting friends is always nice!
Thanks,
-- Tyson_SWE

You can't hunt in natl parks but you can in natl. forest.

Thanks for the answers.lepcur wrote:You can't hunt in natl parks but you can in natl. forest.
Where in CA are you hunting?
I heard that the national forests in the north like Modoc, Klamath and Shasta is the best for black bear hunting - is that correctly?
And did I understand things right if I just can buy an bear tag/licens and a hunting card by the government (don´t know the real name for this) and then hunt on my own in the national forests?
Thanks,

There's alot of bear all over in N. Ca., find the feed and find the bear.
I think you'll need a hunter safety course, a hunting lic., and a bear tag. The lic. and tag for a non resident run about 420 bucks and after you have these items you can hunt any and all natl. forest and other public ground.
