help with kennel specs

I hope you guys can help out a newbe, I need to build some permanent kennels out back and sure would appreciate some help on sizes and flooring suggestions. How big should it be, is too big better or worse than too small, concrete or dirt, etc. How many dogs per kennel or is there any rules on any of this? Thanks in advance.
