A couple good lynx from the past week

Post by chilcotin hillbilly »

Both these toms made the dogs earn there keep, around , around like a merry go round. The second ended with a good ground fight with a few holes in the dogs, and the hunter killing it from 6 inches.

Good job Doug.

Looks like you and your hunters are having a blast! You got some serious heat going to catch a lynx on the ground!

David,
My best dog is Zoey, a grade walker from a fellow in south central BC. Zoey is 3 and a half years and has seen a pile of game. She opens on a hot track with a real squall mouth shriek, it sounds like you slammed her foot in the door. when she makes the jump she just plain runs to catch. She tries to sling the guts out of everything from lynx to bears. I haven't bred her yet as i am still looking for the right male. I was able to get a full sister to her whom is only 9 months just in case Zoey bites off more then she can chew.
Zoey locates in the big timber fairly well and stays treed but shuts up once your at the tree, she then tries killing the animal with the Zoey death stare only barking when the animal moves.

I think you got a photo of the death stare right? That is hilarious. I love hearing that though. One of the things I loved when I was young and stupid was a slobber mouthed glaze eyed, head back, feet on the tree, tree dog. Now, when I see one of those, I run to my truck, step on the gas, and put as much distance between me and that dog as I possibly can. I would not want to go to jail for killing some one elses dog

I love a cat dog that gets completely focused on the cat in the tree. I dont really care if it even barks at all, as long as there is a dog barking enough for me to find the tree. I have rarely seen that in a full blooded hound. Looks like you really got a jewel to treasure and try to hold on to.

The Zoey death stare! Maybe she is from the same line as my ex wife

There is a remarkable difference between the two lynx. Are they from the same area? are they the same gender?

Thats funny right there!!!

Both lynx are roughly the same size, the second one is a year or two younger but both caught within a few square miles.
There is only about a 4 pound difference between the two. A big lynx goes around 30 lbs.
Both those ones are toms. The second was a little wet from the dogs biting it during the fight, hense the fur looking a little different.

Dang, the size is deceptive. I would have put that top one at 40 or more. Wow. I think the difference in color is interesting for being so close to each other.

Great pictures Mr Hillbilly!
- Really like that Zoey hound of yours.

Think I'll have to make a savings account and put aside money to take the trip over and see how this lynxhunting is supposed to be done....

Hans, we have enough lynx to go around, it is nice when you can be picky on which track you want to run.
I still think I can do better with one more dog that competes for the front row. Zoey and Cookie compete well but one more of that caliber and I would be happy.....for a while. :D

Damn, you live in a honey hole. I'm lucky to find a track every 14 days and then I might be from 12hrs to 4 days behind it....

Thats the right attitude! I read on here, can't remember who wrote it: "When you think your on top, you have taken the first step down" - Lots of truth in that...

I'm looking hard for a teammate to Pac's, but can't seem to find anything I like. Got a mixbred pup out of Sveden in the summer. She seem to have the hunt and drive, but looks like a midget, so I doubt she'll be able to follow Pacs speed...

Well, happy Holydays, Hillbilly!
- Looking forward to next time you post pics.
