Hi I am from centeral AZ I got started 5 years ago I only run Mt. Lion's I currently have 4 dogs in my pack. I have a 9 yr old fem walker and a 8 yr old fem walker and a 4 yr old walker male and 3 yr old black and tan. It been a bumpy road over the years getting started I finally started doing real well with my dogs last year. I love every minute I get to get out and run them. I cought the best Lion yet last month a very big tom. I always seem to learn new things each time I go out. My dogs are more of snow dogs i would love to work my way over into the dry ground though. There in more time for running in AZ if you can dry ground. I got into running hounds by a friend who use to do it for a long time. I simply do it for myself and the pleasure of running and catching lions. I am hopping to expand my pack more as I can it been a slow road adding somthing here and there dog and gear over the years I can only seem to expand as I aford it. Since I learned from a friend who use to do it I still run my dogs with the older style wildlife beep beep collar I am hoping to expand to the GPS style they keep changing so much I keep wondering which is the best to get. Hopfully that will be my next big purchase maybe someone can get me some advise which has worked best for them seem most guys use them now days. Well that give a pretty good back ground into my start into hounds. Hope to get some tips on those GPS collars.

Welcome to this site.

I use a Garmin Astro 220 with Garmin DC 30 collars. I really like that set-up... Garmin stopped selling the DC 30 collars and now sells the DC 40 collars. I know quite a few hunters that have said that the DC 40 doesn't have the range that the DC 30's have. Maybe Garmin has that fixed, but I know that you can still get DC 30's on E-Bay.....
