Re: for sale ads
I don't like to sale a dog I do because I can not keep all of them. I only breed when i want a pap and keep several when i do. listing the price and some about the pup or dog is a good idea but will not sale a pup or dog until I have talked or know who is getting the pup or dog. I have refused to sale some people dog and have bought some back when it has not worked out. Most of the pups or dogs are sold to people that have purchase from me and have a waiting list for them. In my opinion there are people that are not able to get the best out of a dog which is a bad fit for the dog or person. I prefer that a person comes and hunts with me before any purchase for them to see what to expect from what I breed. Dewey

Re: for sale ads
Dewey that’s exactly the problem I have with raising pups. I don’t raise a bunch, a litter or two a year to keep me and my circle supplied. I put a lot of stock in how my pups turn out when breeding a dog, either how they produced or what caliber of dog their littermates are. It’s really hard to do that when you know a pup didn’t get a fair shake. I’m not a dog god or anything but I try real hard to allow them opportunity and not get in their way. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten a pup back because somebody said they wouldn’t work or hunt or whatever and the dog fires right up for me. Now I’ve about convinced my wife that I’m a genius and a magician, I know y’all believe that too, but nobody else has seen this light yet. I don’t know how the bigger breeders deal with their pups not getting done right. I had a really good family of catch dogs that ran out on me simply because I didn’t raise enough of them to keep them going. I couldn’t stand to see people doing what I felt was wrong by them. For example we had two young guys go hunt with us, wanting to buy a bay dog from my buddy. We bayed a small sounder and walked into the bay with both catch dogs off leash. We sent them at the same time by command and caught two good sows. We ended up catching a few more and these guys sounded really nice. They were so impressed with the catchdogs that they wanted pups. Then they went on to say that they don’t run vests on a catchdog until they’ve earned it. WHAT?!! That’s just stupid. You ain’t getting any of my dogs if that’s your mindset. It’s a hazardous occupation. A dog may not get a chance to turn out if it meets the right hog. I’ve seen them hunt them just cut all up and sore from several previous hunts and then finally quit on a bad hog because just couldn’t take anymore punishment or were out of gas. Then they get mad at the dog and say it isn’t worth a crap, etc etc. I had no problem taking the dog back and letting them know that you can make ANYTHING and ANYONE quit under the right circumstances. They talk about wanting “Dead Game” catch dogs. I told them that was a stupid comment too. There’s only one way to find out if something or someone is “Dead Game” and that’s if it dies for the cause. How much good are they to you then? If you get a dog hurt you take care of it to the fullest. You pay attention to your dogs. They can be hurt without being cut. If a boxer gets broke or bruised ribs during training camp, do they cancel the match until they are healed or do they proceed as planned? Anyway, y’all get what I’m preaching about. Sorry for the rant.
