Information on finishing a dog..

I have a male walker, hes 1 year and 9 months old.. He goes nuts over a caged coon. and will tree any fresh coon u want. if i turn a coon loose and let it run for about 5 minutes then turn him loose. hell open on the track good, and tree hard. hes a great dog. but hunting him, he hasnt treed any coon by just hunting. Ive only treed caged coons with him. im not sure if im doing something wrong, or what. i just need some good advice and help..

Sounds like he's not having to do any work, to much drag work or critter work can be bad at times. You need to find where critter sign is at and hunt it and hunt it til you get him going, and then hunt it some more!
