Re: just wondering
JC I had a friend of the family move out here with a deer dog from Arkansas in the early '70 when I still hunted a lot of bear. He brought a hightan dog that he could put on a 1 or 2 day old buck track and that dogs would put that deer across a stand or into the river in a day or so. He was not a real fast dog but on a long race he would be leading. He could out cold trail any dog that I had and I had one of the top 5 cat dogs that I have ever owned at the time. We could put him on a two day old bear track and he would jump it. When my dogs would not even trail it. You could not turn him out to start a track because he would take the first deer he cane across, but if you put him on a coon , bear or deer he would never leave it. I wish that I would of bred something to him. That is as the only dog that I have hunted with from any of the south. Dewey
