Getting ID Numbers Back
When I assign ID 12 to a collar, that ID number disappears from the ID list because it's being used. If I switch that collar to a different ID number, how can I get ID 12 to show back up on the list of availible ID numbers? It may be in the manual but I either didn't see it or more than likely didn't understand it.

If you assign the ID 12 to a collar, not only does 12 disapear from the list, but so does 2,22,32,and 42. If you change the ID to anything that ends in any number other than 2, 12 will automatically reappear.

Jordan Run Walkers - why and how is that?? I saw that this weekend when we were running a bunch of different dogs. I had my 10 in the astro, but when I wanted to add others it would only allow certain ones to be added. Is there any way around it? As an example we were looking for a dog with ID number 17, but only had 5, 10, 15, 25 as options as ID numbers to add.

Zach- If you did not have 17 in the unit. The there was another collar stored in the unit that ended in a 7. Just like what Shiemer said in the post above yours.

And there's no way to get around that other than being able to touch the collar to the unit? That sucks! If they allowed 20 dogs we'd be okay, but having only 10 some have to be added and removed depending on who's out... Don't get me wrong, I love having my gps, but there is sooooo much room for improvement on these things!

Re: Getting ID Numbers Back
Don't have to be touching just close. More collars would be nice, but would also cause more problems. There is only so much room allowed by law. As it is now if you stack the collars, 1,2,3,etc. You can get interference issues. Adding more would just compound it. Garmin uses the MURS band so the channels are free for everyone to use everywhere in the US. Garmin would have to buy more channels with exclusive rights from the FCC. That would be costly. Since this is a completely different band, and signal from the old no longer in use CW(beep beep) band.

Re: Getting ID Numbers Back
I Tell people to think of the First number as the frequency and the second as the Time.
So for example 11 Is Freq 1 chan 1
32 Is freq 3 chan 2
Since you or no one else can be in the same place at the same time, you can only have one time.
Let's play a game with CB radios and hound guys and pretend to be the garmin system. The rules are we can only use channels 1 through 5. (or CB channels 0-4 In If we were to match the Garmin terms)
For the collars:
Assign Hounddawg with ID 1 (Think of 01)
I assign Jordan with ID 12
I assign Bign Blue, Haggermand, and Benny G off with ID 33
Let's Pick 10:00am for example,
I'll be sit in a Truck at the top of the hill waiting for the Hound guys to tell me where they are.
Starting at exactly 10:00 for one minute, I would check all collars ending in 0. And depending on which frequency you need to be on. Since I don't have a collar ending in Zero I would kick back and drink a beer, and tell everyone how great my dogs are.
Then when my clock switched to 10:01, I would check my list and notice I have a Collar ending in 1.. So I would look at the First number and notice that it's a Zero.. So that would tell me switch to CB channel 0 (Bad example since there isn't a Channel Zero), but you get the idea)and listen for Hounddawg to tell me which Bartender he is trying to pickup on. (Of course Since Hound dawg went into the bar chassing Fluzzies, He would probably be out of range and I wouldn't get his location.
Next at exactly 10:02 I would give up listening for hounddawg and remember that Jordan was out there also and His number was 12 so I Need to switch my CB to channel 1 and listen on the second minute. Since he was reliable I"m sure He would tell me where he was, of course He would probably lie some so that I don't learn about his hunny Hole. But it would be close enough.
Then at exactly 10;03 that's when I would listen for haggar and company. On CB channel 3 (33) and listen for one of the three stooges to try and tell me where they are. Of coarse when If I could make out the words through all the slurring, and they gave me the cordinates I would write them down and then flip the paper upside down knowing damn good and well, that they were holding the GPS upside down trying to line up the arrow on the GPS pointed to North..
And you would continue until 9 and then start all over.
Hope that helps explain it a little bit. But if you can understand that mess.. then you'll get a better idea about the numbers and what they mean.

Re: Getting ID Numbers Back
Buddy, you lost me on that one. But I think I got confused when the fluzzies entered the picture. Glad I dont know hound dawg, or the mental picture may have been ruined.
