I am planning on setting a trapline this year, and I am going to trap whatever decides to go in my traps, so there is coon, bobcat, coyote, fox, ring-tailed cat, skunk(I hope not) rockchuck, and probably badger, I will go out of my way to trap them, I hate the things, pluss I want one to make a bow quiver out of. if you have any tips I be glad to take them.

I trap bobcat, fox and coyotes. Trapping bobcats is some of the best funn a feller can have with his clothes on. It really helps in training young dogs too. I have some real hard working young dogs because of trapping. But I like running dogs so it is hard to run an honest long line and thats what it takes to catch good numbers of those bobs.

i like trapping beaver and coon mostly beaver. every now and then i will set a couple traps out for a cat to train with and i'm not all that great at setting coyote traps allthough i have caught some. i just found a big area that hasnt been trapped in years that is just stock full of beaver so next year i will be hittin that up. water trapping makes it easer cuz alot of times were i like running the dogs is near beaver ponds and what not so i check traps while i am huntin the dogs. and bobcats like to hang out near beaver ponds
cant never could

I trap beaver, coon and bobcat. caught 1 otter and lots of skunk over the years. I found trapping makes you think more when your in the woods. Gives you a different way to look at habitat and movement.

I am new at hounds but old at trapping. I run mainly cats. Run anywhere between 75 to 150 traps dail. I set on opening day and trap daily through the end of the season. I trap muskrat in the spring for gland collection (lure making) beaver in the fall before cat opens for meat as bait and castors for lure making. I usually run a mink line of about 25 traps during the cat seaon. Once agin mink for the glands. Do some coon in the early seaon before cat opens and marten when running a cat line. I trap with cages and cages only. Only exception is beaver, I use coni-bear under a state permit for these. We can only use cage traps here in WA unless we get a problem animal permit from WDFW.
I average 125 miles per day and 5 hours on the line, would not have it any other way either. Once I get drawn for cougar with hounds I will shorten my trapping jjust a bit:0)

Just saw the thread thought Id post . I trap everything , but I support myself through winter with beaver , fox , martin and badger . I had a good year on mink last year , and stared catching more rats than anyone should have to deal with . You name it , I'll catch it.

I used to trap coyotes , and still do in my fox and cat sets . I dont go out just for them though . They aren't worth all the boiling and headaches . If the price went up.......maybe . But I can catch 10 Badger a night , and I probably get 15 bucks more each for them !
