Re: thaughts on tree climbing dogs
Not much for me to thaught about.
If I am at the tree there will be no tree climbing by dogs period.
If the dog is in the tree when I get there, I will get him out and explain the error in his ways.
If the dog climbs while I am not there, I accept the fact that at some point he will pull the short straw and end up busted up or dead.

Re: thaughts on tree climbing dogs
Here are my thoughts on a tree climber some can be broke from doing it if caught early enough, if one can get to the tree and catch them in the act. But to try and correct the problem once they have already been in the tree would be fairly hard I would believe. It would be a perfect world if all dogs would set back at the tree and bark 30 times a minute but that isnt going to happen so when it comes down to it if the dog is up in the tree and barking its done its job so to me it would be pretty hard to fault the dog for putting the cat in a tree. Yes its not a good thing but if the dog is consistantly catching bobcat I will take the gamble. I would much rather have a dog be in the tree barking rather than not at the tree! Bobcat dogs are few and far between so bottom line is if you have a dog thats only fault is climbing, and is consistantly putting cats up and telling you where they are at you better hang on to it. There are alot worse things the dog can be doing! jmo Andy

Re: thaughts on tree climbing dogs
Only prob I have came acrossed with my bluetick climbing is she has pushed some cats to jumping... But with three dogs on the ground chase is back on and treed again. Good for a pup to get started. Other down fall.... Having to climb 20 feet cuz she didn't see it jump and cant climb down. I have had to climb Once and pack her down. Pretty tricky task. I would def like to stop her without thinking she is in trouble for the wrong reasons I won't complain about putting cats up the tree.

I agree if they'redoing everything else right I'll carry a rope and sling them out if I have to however most of the really hard tree climbers also learn how to get out of the tree fairly well to so bitch about it but remember your probably cussing your hardest driving dog to
