Refurbished DC 30 weaker

I sent in a Dc 30 that had been very good and gave a better signal than my Dc 40(broken).
Got a Refurbished that I'm sure was new, I had a weaker signal than my Dc 40 and only charged to 3/4 charge.
I sent it back and got another one the same. First one to loose signal from collar to DC320. This one also only showed 3/4 charge.
I thought the dc 30 would be better. Any thoughts on this?
