wondering if any of you guys have had this problem and might have some things to try to fix it.
I have 6 DC 40 collars....two of them are giving me problems.
When I take the hounds to a training pen and drop them off, I have reception on all 6 collars. I can even track all 6 up to two or three miles when I leave. the problem is when I come back the next morning to get the hounds up, I can not get reception back on two of them and its the same two everytime.
Any ideas??
I upgraded software on all of them recently...and also put the extended range antennas on all of them.
DC 40 Question/Help
Re: DC 40 Question/Help
A little update on this question....
I changed back to the original antennas on the two that dont work. I was able to figure out it wasnt the antennas.
What I am seeing is that the two with the problems communicate fine with the 320...comm signal is strong...it is that they are loosing the gps signal.
Could it be that over time the battery starts to get to weak and the GPS tracking portion starts to degrade?? If feel like I didnt have this problem until I upgraded to the latest firmware. I dont ever remember getting the triple flash of the light before the upgrade either...and when I get there in the morning they both pretty much just double flash vice triple flash. I know this has to do with the quality of the GPS signal.
The battery on both of them in the morning is still around 50-60%.
Once again...these track fine while I am at the training pen, its only when I leave and come back in the morning that they act up.

Re: DC 40 Question/Help
Does anyone know how to revert back to a previous version of frimware on a DC40??
Re: DC 40 Question/Help
Laeve the collars on your hood, keep them off the dogs in the box until they pick up.
Re: DC 40 Question/Help
If you are refering to when I first load the dogs up to go hunting, I always do that...
I turn all the collars on...get a good lock to make sure they are all working good..then go and load up and put the collars on the dogs as I load them in the box.
Everything works fine until the next morning when I go pick the dogs up.

DC 40 Question/Help
There was a guy on a beagle forum that I frequent. He was having the same issue. He just contacted the seller and they sent him out new collars. He could never get it worked out. Although his problems included the collars turning how while running his hounds after about 2 hours or so. I guess if you leave the hounds over night, you may not know exactly when they are losing signal.

Re: DC 40 Question/Help
I got one going the same thing. Would like to know what's doing this. Works fine for while then looses gps signal. I shocked my dog and messed her up for while on coming back because it said she was running all over and she was actually under brush pile laying down when I got to her 2 hours later.
