Tx coon hunters

Postby edwac20 » Sat Nov 10, 2012 2:31 pm

I'm down in South Texas and just getting into the coon hunting. Just picked up two female blueticks to start working with. There is another guy I have been speaking with that's down in the Hondo, Texas. I'm going to try to get with him and do some hunting as soon as I get these pups up and going. Is like to get with a few guys to so some hunting eventually. I'm going to try to put them on Bobcat as well.

I live in Menard and hunt here, South Texas, West Texas and New Mexico. I hunt the blue dogs as well and will put them on most predators. Around here primarily coon and an occasional bobcat.

Gary,
Have you tried putting them on hog are so you feel the risk of losing one is too great?

Used to hunt hogs with curs years ago and feel that are better suited to the game than hounds. I don't want my hounds to run hogs and sure don't want the risk of loosing one to a hog. I have owned a few that a "bad" hog could have helped a right smart.

I just moved here to Hondo from up in the hillcountry. Ive got a bluetick thats just over a year old that Im trying to get on coon. He'll run a track and tree but he still could learn a lot from being out with some other dogs. If theres anyone in the area that wouldnt mind me and my dog tagging along Id really appreciate it. Just send me a message on here and I'll get back to you. Thanks
