I got my girls in kennels and I have my male hooked with a coated 3/8 cable with rugged snaps n each end. I have him hooked to the kennel now cause I am not sure how I can stake him out. I have a old axel and a large rugged ring I can put in the ground for him. the cable is 10ft I do have a 20 ft but that seems to me a lot of room for him 40 feet area.. He has a blue barrel for a hut too. How do you stake out your dogs? thanks!

I use wooden insulated dog houses and bolt the to a hard wood pallet (just to keep them high and dry) then I bolt a 10 ft chain to the dog house. Then I can move them around easily if I need to. And the chains do not get tangled up.

i had a dog that would chew coated aircraft cable making it all burrs causing hot spots when it chafed on him he even chewed through it once . he also almost lost his leg because somehow he cinched it down on it. i found him just in time to get it off before it came to that.it swelled up quite bad .ive had chains ever since and the only thing to maintain is the brass snaps have to be changed once a year because the swivels wear out. i make my own stakes with big threaded rod 2.5 to 3 ft in lengths two smaller washers 3 nuts one big washer which is drilled on the outside edge for an s hook to go through and be clinched .first put two nuts on to the threaded rod one is to lock down later on the other then put a smaller washer on top of the nuts then your big washer with the the hole drilled on the outside edge then another small washer then your last nut which after put on with a little of the thread sticking through will be pounded with a hammer to round the threads over so it cant back off. threaded rod is soft enough so this is easily done.the smaller washers and big washer sliding around between them make an excellent swivel when you adjust the bottom two nuts so it can spin freely without too much slack then lock the nuts by tightening them against each other. put your chain on the other end of the s hook clench it. put a swiveling brass snap with a quik link to the dog end of the chain ,and you have a self contained unit you can take any where you can pound it in the ground.the hardest part is drilling the hole in the big washer the rest is a piece of cake . takes about 15 to twenty minutes to make.

I just went down to the hardware store and had them cut a longer chain and put heavy duty snaps on the chain.

that is alot like the thing i build outlaw i never knew they had them like that . the only things id seen were pretty sketchy and would maybe hold a chiwahaua.

Attach your heavy duty chain to top of "earth anchor", screw ALL THE WAY into the ground(so the chain is buried a few inches into the ground) . Only swivel needed is the one on the snap that is hooked to the hounds collar.

All relatively cheap and should outlast your dog.

I did look at the earth anchors,maybe 2 ffet of big chain with a big swivel then onto the coated cable?? KORDOGS I idea is good one too will have to monitor the chewing but hes a older dog .. I have those Bull snaps in use right now.. I gotta fix this set up being hooked to the kennels cause at feeding time I feed my male then feed the girls. gotta do it fast cause Pine is dun in no time. I am working on him about the jumpn.. 75 lb hound on ya is no good. want this be a kids fun place/activity. Like to use him on some youth hunts. other then the jumpn hes a real good buddy. thanks for the imput guys, much appreciated !!
