Thanks for the stories from Scrubrunner
Thanks to everyone for the stories posted while I was holed up from knee surgery, it's still mending but I'm back to work and physical therapy. Got out in the woods fri. night, it rained about 5 pm was in the 60s and thick fog hanging low by the time I got to the woods about 10 pm. Turned my oldest dog out on a fox track about midnight going into thick scrub, thought he'd take it opening right there but didn't say a word for 10 min. And finally opened one time. Put a younger male that kind of stands on his head in a track a little more than I like, he opened on it right away and moved it about a hundred yds.and shut up. All was quite for quite a while but they finally got together and started moving it pretty good. I sent my 10 month old pup that's been running good and a 3 yr. old jyp to them, shortly after they got there they put the ol fox a running. I checked where they crossed a sand road and made sure they were right, the race made three good circles, than had about a two min. lose when they picked it back up they headed due south, I knew this didn't sound right now. I flew around to a big clay rd. A mile to the south, when I got there the hounds had already crossed but by the alpha I stopped right where they crossed and there was the running deer and four running hound tracks. Luckily the deer run zig zag a few times in that block and I got ahead of them about two miles further south and got them caught up. Thank goodness for the Tracking and training capability of the Alpha without it I would have probably been trying to catch dogs till after noon Sat. Wasn't a real good night but was better than anything on tv!
