Oregon Bobcat Harvest Proposal

Post by mike martell »

Folks

Bobcat hunters and Trappers won a round today in Salem....The board of Commissioners unanimously rejected ODFW's proposal to lower the Eastern Oregon Bobcat take from five to three per season based on flawed data as admitted under testimony today....

Special thanks to the six people that testified on behalf of Hound hunters and trappers....

The architect in this matter was Mr. Stan Steele with Oregon Outdoor Council....Stan articulated our case.....Stan is well respected and for those that don't know Stan, he is retired from OSP as a wildlife enforcement officer across Western Oregon....Stan serves us well and I for one like having him working for all of us instead of his previous job!!

OUSDA & Oregon Trappers Association were also responsible for the success today.

Many other proposals are on the table such as three separate Cougar bills moving forward and this will be the year to pass such legislation...Details are still very premature...

Budgetary restraints are a driving force with the Commission and we will get some hunting back and as addressed first hand by Director Roy Elicker, folks better get accustom to paying to play.....

More information to follow when it breaks officially
