take updates off?

Post by catdogs »

Is there a way to take previous updates off? The last update I did seems to have slowed down my alpha. When I zoom in an out too fast now the maps go blank and when I "start new hunt" there is a long hesitation when it asks if I want to clear previous hunt info.

I just updated mine a week ago and mine is now hesitating a long time when I start a new hunt. I will check on the zooming in and out, with the beagles I can get by with just leaving it on the 100 yard setting.

That blank screen is actually in the ocean near India or somewhere close to that. Both my 320 and alpha go to that every once in a while while zooming in or out. Apparently an update malfunction, Garmin hasn't fixed it yet. I called Matt on the start a new hunt on the alpha, mine takes close to half a minute to do it, Matt figured that was normal. My 320 clears a hunt in less than 2 seconds. I know Buddy's looking for 320's that go to that blue screen but haven't had time to call him. Hope there's a fix soon, gets irritating.

X2 on the long hesitation when you start new hunt on the alpha. I haven't timed it but definitely a lot longer hesitation than before the update.

Beside the long pause time when starting a new hunt (which is fine) I have noticed it take's MUCH longer to link up with some of my dogs when I let them out of the box.

take updates off?

Budd, double check the dogs that are taking longer to link up to and make sure the update rate on the collar is set to 2.5 seconds. If the lost mode is enabled when the battery of the collar gets to 1/4 battery life left it automatically switches to a 2 minute update rate on the collar. It takes longer to link up to a collar when set on a 2 minute update rate compared to the 2.5 second update rate. This has happened to me, might be your problem too.

Nope, that's not the issue. Run 4-6 days a week for just a few hours at a time, collars are on chargers anytime they are not on the dogs. I updated the handheld but not the collars, will give that a try and see if that helps. Before the update pairing up was NEVER a issue for me, and that's being used a LOT year around.

Budd, I personally wouldn't update until garmin has a fix for the blue screen issue. I just got my alpha so I'm not sure what normal speed is. Apparently they have an updated fix for the blue screen on the astro so I would think the alpha should be soon.
