Coon hunting (gun restriction) ?

ok, season is out here in KY but i'd like to run my dogs (pups) threw the spring and maybe summer/fall, can i keep my gun stored in my dog box (locked) or is this forbidden?

Anyone no the facts? or have opinion? and thanks for reading..
