CALLING ALL HOUND LOVERS!
Coonhound Companions [ www.coonhoundcompanions.com ] is putting together our 2016 calendar and we would really like to feature your faithful hound. The organization is a nonprofit that aims to promote shelter hounds as pets. If you don't believe in that, no one is forcing you to submit your pix.

GUIDELINES & TIPS
We especially need photos of hounds:
• Representing all coonhound and foxhound breeds and strains includig grade hounds; of all ages, puppies to seniors
• Active,working, playful, and alert (we have a limited use for sleeping hounds)
• Interacting with other animals and people (especially children)
• Against a colourful backdrop or spectacular scenery
• In seasonal settings – spring landscapes, summer settings, fall foliage and snowy scenes
• Big game hunting photos are welcome.
• Night hunt pix are rarely of high enough quality because of lighting issues.
• Pix featuring blood and gore won't make the cut.

Photo Composition
• Sit, kneel or squat to place yourself at eye level with the dog. Focus on eyes; if the dogs are at a distance, taking the photo from a standing position will work.
• Horizontal format is preferred, but do not crop or resize even if the format is vertical. We’ll handle that.
• Keep the background simple and without distractions.

Resolution & Clarity
• Files must be a minimum of 3MB, but the more pixels the better for enlarging the image to fit the calendar.
• Test the quality of your photos by zooming in a few times on your computer to see if the subject stays in focus. A photo that becomes blurry is a poor candidate.
• Although some of today’s phones have high-res cameras, a good digital camera is often your best option.

Permissions
• Submitting your photos constitutes permission for Coonhound & Foxhound Companions to publish the images in their 2016 Calendar as well as other related non-profit promotional efforts including, but not limited to, web and print media such as the Coonhound Companion website and Facebook page, breed identification posters, hound ownership information, etc.
• If your photo includes people, you will need to obtain their written permission allowing us to publish the photo. An email granting permission is adequate.
• You will not be paid for your photo. The purpose of the calendar is to help get hounds out of shelters and into good homes by raising awareness of their suitability as family pets. It is not intended to raise funds.

HOW TO SUBMIT PHOTOS:
1. Select your favourite photos – please choose no more than 5 photos and try to make them as varied as possible (e.g.different setting, activity, etc.).
2. Each photo should have a file name that allows for ease of identification (e.g., dog’s name, breed, etc.).
3. Once selected, post the photos in a Dropbox folder identified with your name (http://www.dropbox.com). Dropbox is a free application that is easy to access and use and eliminates the need to transmit such large files through email.
4. Once you have saved your photos into the Dropbox folder, simply ‘share’ the folder with us at CCcalendar2016@gmail.com
5. The Dropbox site has an excellent ‘help’ feature if you encounter any difficulty. Of course, we are happy to assist as well.

Deadline for submission has been extended to September 1, 2015
