In addition to shots, what measures do you all take to protect pups from being infected from parvo?

Clean and disinfect kennels or any area they are allowed. Keep them separate from strange canines untill 14 weeks. Make sure the mother is up to date on her vaccines and be prompt and regular with puppy shots. Pasco "Parvo" comes in different strains. So the vaccines you get today are the companies best guess as to which strain is most probable. Also a puppy that still had traces of immunity from its mother will not receive immunity from a vaccine until the maternal immunity is gone and the puppy is revaccinated. Guess its a wonder more puppies don't get Pasco. On the other hand with prompt supportive care most puppies can be saved. Its not clean or fast nor cheap but can be done. Antibiotics are to prevent infection of damaged intestines along with diarrhea medication to ease discomfort and slow fluid and nutrient loss and iv fluids to replensh losses.
As general kennel care a spray of chlorox and water douse everything thoroughly and let dry before putting dogs back at least twice a year. I also use a heavy layer of lime and seven dust. Inside the houses get pure chlorox and seven dust with fresh bedding. Here after several years of lime build up in the soil it really seems to help with parasites and any odor. If you intend on having more then a occasional litter of pups a seperate easily sanitized run is probably wisest. Its not a bad idea to have a area for Ill or wounded dogs anyway . I use a insecticide around and under everything also but its more for keeping scorpions and the like out. I will probably be told I'm wrong But I have a rabies fear so my dogs get the puppy shot when old enough and another on the first of September I give every dog their boosters at this time its early enough it has plenty of time before serious hunting. And then I don't have to worry to much about the spring early summer rabies season. Prevention is really cheaper then a cure most times and if done altogether at regular times it is easier to keep to a schedule.

If you can get your Doc to prescribe you some Tamaflu and dose it for children it will help a bunch with parvo
