POLITICAL CHAOS

Post by mike martell »

HEY HAS ANY ONE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO THE RECENCT CRISIS ON THE HILL FACING ALL OF US? THIS IS HUGE STUFF. THE BAIL OUT WILL HE ENORMOUS. THIS WILL AFFECT US FOR SOME TIME TO COME. HOW DID WE GET TO THIS POINT? IN 1991 THE BUSH ADMIN. WARNED CONGRESS OF TWO MAJOR INSTITUTIONS CALLED FREDDY/FANNY. THEY RECOMENDED PASSING SOME GUIDELINES TO OVERSEE THERE RECKLESS SPENDING HABITS. KEEP IN MIND WHO HAD CONTROL OF THE MAJORITY OF THE U.S.SENATE IN THOSE DAYS BEFORE THE ROLE CHANGED. TWO GUYS BARNY FRANK,CHUCK SCHUMER INSISTED ON LEAVING THOSE INSTITUTIONS ALONE AS THEY REPRESENT THE LOW CLASS. WE NEED HOUSING FOR THE POOR, THE REPUBS THRU IN WITH THEM.SO NOW BOTH PARTIES ARE TO BLAME .BOTH DID NOTHING TO HEED THE WARNINGS OF ALAN GREENSPAN. BUT AS YOU SPEAK TO DEMOCRATS THEY BLAME BUSH? BLAME , BLAME ,BLAME. NO WONDER THERE APPROVAL RATING SUCK'S WORSE THAN BUSH. WHO WILL CHANGE THIS MAC/OBAMA. NEITHER WILL. UNTIL WE OUST ALL THE BUMS THIS IS WHAT WE WILL CONTINUE TO GET. MAC. IS HEADING FOR THE HILL TO GRAND STAND OR ADVANCE HIS STANDINGS. AND OBAMA IS PLAYING HIS ACE IN THE HOLE, WHILE WE AGAIN GET HOSED. HOW DO WE GET THE RIGHT CANDIDATE? WE ARE IN THE TANK AND STILL DON'T GET IT. SO I'M GUESSING WE NEVER WILL. BOTH PARTIES REPRESENT LITTLE OR NO HOPE. BUT GIVEN THAT THE DEMOCRAT PARTY SEEMS TO FALL MORE FOR ALL THIS CORPORATE WALFARE THAN EVEN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. THERE PLATFORM IS RUN ON ROBBING THE RICH AND GIVING TO THE HAVE NOT'S. THIS DOES NOTHING FOR OUR COUNTRY.WE NEED A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER TO RUN OUR COUNTRY. SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS FISAL RESPONABILITY.OR TREATING OUR MONEY AS IF THEY HAD TO WORK FOR IT. ONLY THEN WILL YOU SEE CHANGE. LOOK AT PRO SPORTS. IT TOO IS RUN THE SAME WAY. I WOULD MAKE IT A MERIT BASED SYSTEM. YOU DON'T SCORE A RUN YOU DON'T EAT. GOOD BY YANKEE'S. HOW CRUEL....THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS THIS, WE CAN'T TAKE CARE OF OURSELF WHAT QUALIFIES US TO THINK WE CAN TAKE CARE OF THE REST OF THE WORLD? UNTIL WE RUN OUR GOVERNMENT THE SAME WAY I RUN MY SMALL BUSINESS WE ONLY CONTINUE TO SINK. I HATE THE THOUGHT OF OBAMA GETTIG ELECTED BECAUSE HE WILL TARGET MY SMALL COMPANY. YES BUSH CREATED TAX CUTS THAT I QUALIFY FOR .THIS IN TURN ALLOWED ME TO EMPLOY SOME WORKERS WHO THAN PAID TAXES ALL THE WHILE ALLOWING ME THE BREATHING ROOM TO INVEST IN MORE EQUIPMENT TO BUILD MY BUSINESS. I TOOK THE RISK. I EXTENDED MYSELF. I HAD THE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS WORRYING ABOUT MY BUSINESS, NOT GOVERNMENT. WHEN I SEE THE HAVE NOT ON THE STREET CORNER WITH THE SIGN THAT READS, WILL WORK FOR..... WHEN I OFFER THEM A JOB THEY SAY SCREW YOU. THEY ARE WAITING ON BIG BROTHER GOVERNMENT TO SAVE THEM. OUR COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED ON CAPITALISM NOT SOCIALISM. YOU SAY THAT THEY DON'T HAVE AN OPPERTUNITY , DO YOU THINK A HISPANIC ILLEGAL BORDER JUMPER HAS BETTER QUALIFICATIONS? THEY SEEM TO FIND WORK. OR START THERE OWN BUSINESS. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? IT'S CALLED THE WILL TO SURVIVE. SOMETHING ALOT OF AMERICAN'S KNOW LITTLE ABOUT. THIS IS WHY I WILL NEVER SUPPORT A DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE. BUT THE OPTION IS NOT MUCH BETTER.

Mike,
It is not just us that is dealing with this issue. We can point fingers and place blame, but all in all there are other countries facing the same plight. It is just how it is now adays. Lenders got too comfortable making risky loans and extending too much credit to people that couldn't afford it. The housing boom hit and "Everyone" wanted to live the dream of home ownership. The lenders "Screwed" us by giving out these loans. Sure the government could have stepped in long ago and stopped this from happening, but what's done is done. Only thing now is to ride it out and it will all come back. Sure we will have to pay for it now, but that is life so to speak.

Same thing is going on in Ireland.

Recession fears confirmed as economy dips
Thursday, 25 September 2008 16:25
New figures have confirmed that the Irish economy is in recession.

The figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the economy contracted by 0.8% in the second quarter of this year compared with a year earlier.

It is the second successive quarter of negative growth.

AdvertisementThe technical definition of a recession is two or more successive quarters of negative economic growth.

The CSO said that the Gross Domestic Product measure of output fell by 1% in the first six months compared with a year earlier.

Gross National Product, which excludes profits from multinational companies, fell at an annual rate of 2.1% in the second quarter.

A breakdown showed that capital spending in the period was down almost 19% on the same period last year, hit by the slump in house building as well as lower spending on machinery and equipment.

Consumer spending fell by 1.4%, while total industrial production dropped by 1%. Within this, construction was down by more than 12%.

The Taoiseach has said that the Irish economy is facing into difficult times, but that there should be faith in our ability to protect the real achievements made by the country in recent years.

Speaking in New York, where he is attending the UN General Assembly, Mr Cowen said there 'will be painful decisions to be taken', as there are no easy solutions, but the Government will be dealing with that in the coming weeks.

I agree totally. what pisses me off is what are we suppose to do? who are we to vote for? if i don't like either one, am i not suppose to vote. the only thing i can come up with is voting for someone(or party) that best fits my beliefs and lifestyle. even if that 1 person is the vice presidential candidate. that's why i am voting Mccain/Palin.

If they pass a bill, which we all know they will regardless of how little support this getting from their constituents, then we get what we deserve. Lot's of officials on both sides of the fence are responsible for this and they all deserve to be fired. The reason the whole world is feeling the effects is due to them all having a part in it. A lot of money was borrowed from oversees companies. A lot of foreign investors also found the U.S. a desirable place to invest their money which they did in housing. The bought and sold properties who's value was artificially inflated. Oftentimes home prices doubled. How is it when the inventories are high, that the prices went up. It was completely ass backwards. Now they want to keep the prices artificially high to keep more mortgages from going south. The funny thing is, is that if the government had intervened at the hight or before the bubble there would have been a huge public outcry.

Now we are in a mess that the market can handle and NOW they want to do something. Now that everyone made their money selling the properties they can now re-buy them at pennies on the dollar and then eventually sell them again. The other issue is that foreign investors will be buying up a ton of these properties. I don't like that idea to much. The biggest issue I have with this proposed bailout is the fact that ther eis no cap in spending. The bill states that they can have no more than 700 bill on their books AT ANY ONE TIME. That means they can buy 5 trillion if they wanted to as long as they only had no more than 700 billion at one time. If our elected officials pass this bill it will devalue the dollar more than any other time in history.

We cannot allow this and I urge you all to co contact your elected officials by phone and fax and let them know they will not be re-elected if they let this fly. Tell em to find a new job, cuz they suck at protecting Americans and the Constitution. The last great depression we had was made much worse by the gov. intervening. Now of coursr hindsight is 20/20, but shouldn't we learn from our mistakes?

I am a small business owner. I pay my taxes and have no need for credit. We as Americans must live within our means. Our country didn't become a "Credit Dependent Country" overnight, but the less credit debt we take on the better the economy will be for it.

Just my $.02

" I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

ECONOMY

Post by mike martell »

ZACH, YOU ARE ON THE MONEY. I TOO RUN A SMALL BUSINESS THE ONLY WAY TO SURVIVE IS BY HAVING NO CREDIT. YES I QUALIFY. BUT FEEL THAT I CAN AND DO GET BY WITHOUT IT. I COULD HAVE BEEN OUT ON A LIMB LIKE EVERYONE ELSE BUT I KNEW WE COULD NOT LAST FOREVER AT THE PACE WE WERE GOING.I HAPPEN TO BE HUMBLE AND LIVE WITHIN MY MEANS. SOMETHING GOVERNMENT IS CLUELESS ABOUT. SO WHEN THE CRUNCH HIT I JUST KICKED BACK AND WENT HUNTING. HIND SITE IS TRULY 20/20. OUR GOVERNMENT APARENTLY NEVER LEARNED NOTHING FROM HISTORY.....I WAS JUST TUNED IN TO THE DEMOCRATS SQUAKING ABOUT BUSH WANTING TO PRIVATIZE SOCIAL SECURITY AGAIN. MY THOUGHT'S ON THAT TOPIC ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF GOVERNMENT. THEY WILL SCREW IT UP. HOW CAN GOVERNMENT COMPETE AGAINST REALISTIC FRUGAL THINKING FOLKS?
