Im needing to make a new winter box for the dogs and was just wondering if you all could post some pics of what you use for you dogs so I could get some ideas. You know like what material and insulation if any and all that good stuff. Any and all ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Bticked. me i just use a 3/4 inch ply wood and ialso use like some 1 bys to build the frame to bolt the ply wood to. i just cute two or three holes in each side. put a divider in it. the plywood works good as an insulator. but i also put some wood shavings or straw in it also.well hope this helps.

Right on guys. One more question, are your boxes sitting in between the wheel wells or over the rail? I wanted one to go over the rail but cant really seem to figure out a good way to keep the sides insulated. Any ideas?

Bticked, Look at the post from Livetohunt on his dog boxes he makes. There is a pic of my wood over the rail box with storage under the deck. It turned out really nice.. I do have a cover for the sides when it is really cold out.

Re: Winter box

My box, winter or summer, sits on the rails and wheel wells so that I can put bait and Hi-lift jack under the box.

Same box, different truck and different color. This shot shows how much room is under the box. My brother and I each have a box like this and the serve us well. In this shot you can see how much I set the doors up higher so the cedar shavings wouldn't spill out so much. Cedar shavings not only give them something to stay warm but also keeps the fleas and ticks away I am told.

Just one more picture of it from a different angle. We fiberglassed the tops on them as well as the corners below the head holes. The nice thing about sitting on top of the wheel wells is that it gives the dogs so much more room. If I had to I bet I could fit a dozen dogs in my box. I usually only haul six or seven so they all have room to be comfortable.
Hope this helps a bit.
