One nut
Just let him be. He's a long way from needing either of them anyway, and if he turns out to be a good one, he'll still be able to get the job done with one.
One of my buddy's best dogs only has one after an infection and he's had a couple of litters of pups.
In reality, the majority of dogs won't ever need them, cause they aren't good enough to begin with. I'm just too cheap/lazy to go in and have them snipped.

Having one nut is called cryptorchidism. It is an inherited trait and it would probably be a good idea to castrate the dog so it doesn't pass on that genetic flaw.Cryptorchids are also at a much higher risk of developing testicular cancer as that one nut that didn't drop is not supposed to be in that warm of an environment.
