Swollen kidneys???

Post by chilcotin hillbilly »

My 2 year old B&T seems to have noticable swelling infront of both hips. Saturday he had the run put on him by wolves, he got away his partner was not so lucky. Since then he has been quite sore and the swelling looks like a really good pulle muscle knots. Would this have anything todo with his kidneys? The areas aren't overly hot and he pees normally. Its 300 miles round trip to the nearest vet so any advice is welcome.

Well..... If the dog is peeing normally probably not his kidneys, are you sure he is not been bitten on his back? I would put him where it is warm and make sure he drinks a lot and give him some low dose aspirin a couple times a day and move him around some to keep things limbered up and watch and make sure that there is no blood in his urine and that he is peeing alright, and that he is eating and crapping like he should, also watch for bloody stools, but I aint no vet so just taking a guess :?

It could also be an endocrine problem, the adrenal glands are located near the kidneys and if he was pursued by wolves you know those glands were put into a gear they probably have never seen, if you do not see any reduction in swelling take him to a vet.
