SHOCK COLLARS

Post by culverz »

Has anyone used a DT systems training system? I am looking at getting a new system that is expandable to three dogs and they look to be a little more affordable than the TriTronics. Just Curious!! I have not heard a lot about them.

zach, the true measure of any shocking system is answered in a couple of simple questions. how important is it you flat stop the unwanted behavior? how important is reliability? example, just the last time i was roading my young dogs they decided to smoke a bull elk. i had the final say with my long range tri-tronics. in years past i used other alternative cheaper units. i found this to be the buy now and pay later plan. when a dog repeatedly runs off with the shock collar around his neck it sets you back. or another example, i got him this time and had him a little bent, but just when i was finishing his correction he ran off with the collar. consistency is key in the hound world. good luck!

Spend the extra money and get the tri-tronics it will be well worth it in the long run. Never heard anything good about DT. If money is an issue get the tri tronics 1-mile range, they work plenty good enough for most circumstances, but the tri tronics trash breakers is the best out there

I just got a new set-up not to long ago, with money on the mind I shopped around alot. DT was not really recomended by anybody, but sportdog was. They make a good product and it is cheaper then tri-tronics. They have a six dog unit with a mile and a half range and also a four dog set up that will get out to two miles. As far as stopping power goes it's plenty enough to stop my dogs when i say stop. The transmitter and collar ran under 300 and extra collars are about 100 if i remember right. Hope that might give you another option.
