See a lot of that with deer around here. It doesn't take long for the yotes to find them.

Elk are just lazy. Here at my place, every time they jump the fence, they mash the top down. No matter how high or low the fence is, they always seem to catch the top strand with their feet. Ever notice how they always drag their feet when they walk? One inch of snow or a foot, they always drag their feet.

Dean,
Once again you are correctamundo! Elk are lazy and they are hard as hell on fences. Drag their feet waller over them fences and cause general mayhem around such stuctures. If it were not for the fac that they are so dog gone tasty and have such pretty horns thery might have gone the way of the buff. In fact buff are not near as lazy as elk they just congregate in bigger passels and that makes for some problems.
Elk are the darling of the tv shows and I admire them eat them but when it comes to NA game they can't hold a candle to a big whitetail or even more so a really big mule deer in the general season public land
Tell me how do kudu compare with elk?

Down around the Ennis/Cameron area near the famous Sun Ranch you'll see thousands of elk, all herded up in late Jan, Feb. If you put in for a late season premit and the ranch manager would be out there pushin the elk towards you. If you would stop and notice the fences, the top two wires on almost every fence would be laying on the ground, but those premits went away with the wisdom of the genisus at the MTFWP.
One year over on the Sun River Game range I musta found four sets of ivorys outa winter killed herd cows.
