Cherry Eye

Post by nightstalker41 »

Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Are there any fixes I can do at home or is this a definite vet fix? I'd like to avoid the vet if possible but my dogs eyesight is more important to me than a vet bill.

Sometimes you can push it back in. It doesn't hurt their eyesight it just looks bad to us. If you go to the vet don't let them cut it out. That will just cause dry eye and more problems will arise. It needs to be tucked under and stitched. Cost about $250 here. Find a vet that deals with English Bulldogs and they will have done a ton of these surgeries.

The tear duct get clogged causing swelling. You'll see pink tissue bulging from the inside corner of the dogs eye about the size of the tip of your finger.

This is Buddy's wife, Laura. We had a dog that had horrible Cherry Eye in both eyes. We had the vet take them out. She has never had a problem since. If you need to take the dog in for something else, like having it fixed or something, they can do the procedure at the same time. Laura
