Alaska Spring Bear 2009

Post by FullCryHounds »

This year proved to be another outstanding season for huge black bears. We only hunt this area every other year for black bears and only take four hunters so there is very little pressure on these bears. (in even years, we are hunting brown bears on the peninsula in the spring).
The snow was gone early this year and the bears were out about a week earlier then usual. These two bears were shot the first day and were feeding 100 yards apart. They measured 6’9” and 6’7”. One day, 22 different bears were spotted. Also had a 7’ brown bear in the valley that kept things interesting.
One opening for Brown Bear on the Pennisula next spring. 4 openings for Black bear at this camp in 2011.
