Jeff Allen's Dogs on lions?
Jeff Allen's Dogs on lions?
I have a Jeff Allen pup, and I wanted to run him on bobbers and lions. Does anyone know if Jeff Allen's dogs run cats good or not?

Witch line of dogs did your pup come from? Are they his old grade stuff or are they the nance stuff? you didn't get the dog from jeff directly or you wouldn't have asked the question. Jeff's dogs are known for being super cold nosed cat dogs. there are many guys on here that breed and hunt with Jeff on a regular basis. They will all say the same thing. Good choice if your looking for a lion or bobcat dog.

I not sure if he came directly from him or not. One of my hunting buddies owed me a pup, he paid $300 for him. He is a little red tick he is only 9 or 10 mounths old and he is not that tall. I just know he came from Jeff whether it was straight out of his dogs or not. I will get with my friend and try to find out, but if that discription I gave you of him helps, let me know please. Thanks

Trever Mineer is my buddy that I got him from he said he came straight from Jeff. Thanks a bunch for your help, he sounds like good stuff. Are you good friends with Jeff Allen or have you hunted with him a lot?

they are bred to catch cats that is a given, but they make for a med bear dog at best i know a few people that run jeffs dogs and say the same thing .they will get the job done dont get me wrong there but for coons and bears they make med hounds fast tracking hounds too love that and the voice they have

The thing to keep in mind when comparing the 2 species is that in Utah i believe you bear hunt off of rigs more than anything. these dogs are bred to trail. The nose power they have is what impressed me the most. they tree good and seem to hold up pretty good. they are gritty enough for me.
With cats you are probably hunting off of snow tracks or cutting on horse back on dry ground and having to trail quite a bit.
around here if you don't have nose power when the seasons change you are kind of out of luck. might get lucky and strike a couple but big bear are big for a reason.
